Alan Milligan - Sculptor
The Beckett Bronzes
I was asked by Sean Doran to create an outdoor
Beckett themed chess set to be the centre piece of the Enniskillen Happy Days Beckett Festival.
My response to this commission was to produce 32 orginal works in bronze mounted on hundred year old pine blocks. Each piece inspired by a character or prop from the works of Samuel Beckett.
The chess set was then exhibited to promote the Festival at the Belfast MAC and Dublin RHA.
The pieces were also individually installed around Enniskillen. Eventually, during the festival the public was invited to play a game of chess in front of Enniskillen Townhall.
